How We Check the Drone Rules

Last updated 30 October 2026.

Drone rules change often, and much of what is online is out of date. This is how we make sure each page reflects the current rules.

Official sources first

Every rule on the site comes from the country's aviation authority, such as the UK Civil Aviation Authority or the US Federal Aviation Administration, or from other public bodies when they set the rules, such as the US National Park Service for national parks. Each page lists the pages we used under Sources.

Prices for insurance and memberships come from the companies' and associations' own pages, and we say so where we use them.

A date on every page

Each country page shows the date it was last checked against the authority, and each source shows the date we read it.

Nothing we cannot confirm

If we cannot confirm a fact on an official page, we leave it out rather than guess. That is why some pages do not yet give, for example, exact fine amounts.

Rule changes

We re-check the authorities' pages regularly. When a rule changes, we update the page and log the change with its date and source. The latest changes appear on each country page and on the home page.

Summaries, not legal advice

We write the rules in plain language so they are easy to follow. They are summaries, not legal advice. Always check the authority's own pages before you fly, especially if you fly for work.

Corrections

If you find something that is wrong or out of date, please contact us. We check every report against the official source.
